Memory and Neuroscience

This program is rescheduled from Dec. 2022, which was postponed due to a weather-related closure.

Explore concepts from the book Remember: The Science of Memory and the Art of Forgetting, written by Lisa Genova.

Our brains are not designed to remember everything. Just because memory sometimes fails does not mean it is broken. In Remember, neuroscientist and acclaimed novelist Lisa Genova (Still Alice) explains how memories are made and how we retrieve them. Readers will learn how memory is impacted by meaning, emotion, sleep, stress, and context. Understanding the language of memory and how it functions can improve our ability to remember and help us feel less rattled when we forget.

Limited print copies of the book may be borrowed by request; call your Library and ask for the “Intentional Aging book kit” to confirm availability. To borrow an eBook or eAudiobook, search Remember Genova in the catalog at www.nols.org or use the Libby app. All are welcome to join the discussion! It is not required to read the book in advance.

Intentional Aging is a monthly program for anyone who wants to live well while aging. Registration for one month will register you for all. The Zoom link will be the same for all meetings.
